In 2024, 78% of projects committed to install EV ready infrastructure, which is an increase from 53% of projects in 2023.

On 1 January 2024, VC250 was gazetted by the State Government, banning gas connections to new residential developments. Any new residential developments requiring a planning permit must now be all-electric.

A requirement to provide electric vehicle ready infrastructure to demonstrate that proposed developments meet ESD requirements, is a future step.
