Kingston’s industrial sector is one of the largest and most concentrated in the state. There is also a significant retail and service-based economy in Kingston anchored by a regional shopping centre at Southland, several major activity centres and numerous smaller local and neighbourhood shopping precincts. The manufacturing sector is the largest employer followed by retail trade and wholesale trade. This sector is characterised by a smaller number of large organisations and numerous small to medium sized enterprises (over 17,000).
Industrial zoned land covers an area of 12.38 square kilometres.
