Council is making significant progress, working with medium and large Kingston businesses to maximise their energy-buying power.

In May 2023, Council agreed to participate in a Business Renewables Buying Group aimed at supporting businesses with large electricity loads to aggregate and procure renewable energy through a 'retail PPA'.

In 2024, one large business joined the Business Renewables Buying Group (BRBG) which accesses 100% renewable energy. This is equivalent to approximately 1,500 Kingston homes transitioning to renewables. Two facilities with a usage of 20,000 MWh (4,000 Kingston homes) are interested in joining in 2025.
