Council has successfully collaborated with four other Councils to deliver a roadmap for the South-East region. This work highlighted the most feasible locations for EV charging infrastructure across Kingston to be rolled out over the next eight years. Next steps involve delivering the network of public chargers.

In November 2023, Council endorsed the draft Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Policy (draft Policy) for community consultation. Extensive community consultation on the draft Policy has informed the updated EV Charging Policy, which was adopted in July 2024. Design and Installation Guidelines have also been developed.

In July 2024, an EV Charging Expression of Interest was issued, which solicited market interest to install and manage EV chargers across the municipality.
