In April 2024 Council submitted an application to the Community Energy Upgrades Fund (Round 1). The Community Energy Upgrades program co-funds energy efficiency and electrification upgrades for local governments to deliver reduced energy bills and emissions from local government owned and/or operated facilities.

Federal and State Government departments such as Sustainability Victoria (SV) and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) are being actively engaged to ensure opportunities to collaborate via grants and subscriptions are maximised. Local businesses are notified via e-newsletters, flyers and Kingston's Connect to Businesses (C2B) portal.
