Council engages with SECCCA on a range of regional programs in line with Council's emissions reduction and adaptation goals. Co-ordinating a regional approach is ongoing.

Description

Council has been a member of the South East Council's Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA) for over 20 years. Throughout 2021/22, Council's business team worked with SECCCA on their Small Business Energy Saver Program. Council promoted the program through flyers, newsletters and Council web pages. Based on the final report released by SECCCA, around 467 small Kingston businesses were engaged with a deemed saving of approximately 1,330 tonnes CO2e.

In 2025 Council is participating in the Financing Flood Resilient Infrastructure (FFRI) Project.

    Sustainable Procurement

    Kingston participated in a Sustainable Procurement project, which developed procurement guidelines that encourage contractors and suppliers to provide sustainable products and services. This project was completed in June 2025.

    Green Lease Inclusions

    Kingston participated in a Green Lease project, which aimed to encourage more efficient operation of leased buildings, by negotiating green lease inclusions with tenants. This project was completed in June 2025.
