Council engages with SECCCA on a range of regional programs in line with Council's emissions reduction and adaptation goals. Co-ordinating a regional approach is ongoing.

Council has been a member of the South East Council's Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA) for over 20 years. Throughout 2021/22, Council's business team worked with SECCCA on their Small Business Energy Saver Program. Council promoted the program through flyers, newsletters and Council web pages. Based on the final report released by SECCCA, around 467 small Kingston businesses were engaged with a deemed saving of approximately 1,330 tonnes CO2e.

    Green Lease Inclusions

    Kingston is participating in a Green Lease project which aims to encourage more efficient operation of leased buildings, through negotiating green lease inclusions with tenants. This project is due for completion in 2024/25
