Description
Council continues to provide the community with education about sustainable transport including:
- Electric Vehicles Education: the basics, models, costs, and charging
- Biketober: a month long cycling challenge encouraging schools and local businesses to compete by logging as many rides as possible.
- Providing education about health, economic, and sustainability benefits of cycling
- Ride 2 Work day activation on the Bay Trail drawing over 200+ participants
- Hosted Mayors on Bikes event with attedence from Bayside, Monash, Darebin, the community and a Bicycle Network
- Promoting walking and cycling through our Walk or Wheels program which is run through over 35 primary schools and 5 secondary schools
- Promoting active transport at our events throughout the year
Biketober successful pilot launch which included:
- 172 Registrants
- 105 People Riding
- 923 kg C02 saved
- 5 workplaces
- 21,677km ridden
- 1046 bike trips.
Kingston, despite entering late in August 2023, placed 4th among 25 government agencies.
A successful Mayors on Bikes event raised the profile of three cycling advocacy projects.
