Training and process improvements are empowering Statutory Planners to deliver better ESD outcomes through the planning application process. Council is updating processes and training staff to ensure every development has reduced emissions and is prepared for future climate impacts.

Council continues to build internal capacity to maintain consistency in the assessment of sustainability in planning applications.

Education sessions to build capacity of Statutory Planners regarding ESD are ongoing, with formal training sessions delivered by ESD Officers monthly.

Recent training topics have covered water sensitive design, the Green Factor tool, daylight access and ESD in relation to the recent planning scheme Amendment C230.
